Religious Persecution Growing Worldwide, Group Says
By Payton Hoegh
CNSNews.com Correspondent
January 17, 2007

At a time when religious persecution prompts growing international concern, Christian advocates in the U.S. marked Religious Freedom Day Tuesday by drawing attention to those who do not have the freedoms enjoyed by Americans. However, some voiced concern that a bill currently before Congress may dilute religious freedom at home too, by threatening free speech under the guise of outlawing "hate crimes."

I believe I mentioned this part in a previous post. Someone was asking me about it. This bit fell into my lap so ... here it is. You want money quotes? We got plenty.

'Hate crimes' concerns

Some Christian advocacy groups worry that religious freedoms may also be at risk in the U.S.

Earlier this month Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) reintroduced a hate crimes bill that has failed to pass several times in the past.

Focus on the Family Action in a statement Tuesday linked the controversial measure to Religious Freedom Day.

"America was founded on religious freedom, and our future greatness as a nation depends on it," said Tom Minnery, the organization's senior vice president of government and public policy.

Minnery said the hate crimes bill "threatens that future by not aggressively prosecuting criminal acts, but by giving Washington the power to decide what constitutes criminal thought."

He said in some states similar legislation had been used "to punish peaceful demonstrators who have made politically incorrect statements." Minnery cited a 2004 case in Pennsylvania, when 11 Christians were arrested and five charged under a state hate crimes law after protesting against a homosexual event.
Emphasis mine of course, and as you'll see in a second I've been researching this lots.

Found a rather interesting video. I don't understand why they would be in the middle of that sort of a gathering doing that, but ... the truth is ... they have as much right to be there as anyone else. If I have to swallow supporting code pink's right to spew all it's moronic ultra liberal socialist sponsored crap then they can deal with a few guys with a loud speaker, a guitar, and a camera. I got one word for you: wa.

I'm still trying to figure out then... why homosexuals who show up to our local churches and scream all kinds of horrible profanities at those attending including small children who haven't a clue why these strange people are calling them Nazis, homophobes, bigots, and other things I just won't post here - aren't arrested for the same sort of hate crimes.

Oh, that's right. Their profanity is called "freedom of speech". Our beliefs and mere presence are called ... "hate speech". So where's my star again? Considering we have a San Francisco fanatic at the helm of the Senate I don't think it's entirely out of the question. I mean, hey San Francisco is officially condemning Christians for simply showing up:

From Al Barger at Blogcritics.com
According to Assemblyman Mark Leno "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco."

Yeah, okay fine. I would tend to think that protesting such a group is just silly. Of all the things to protest, nice Christian kids wanting to help poor folks and pass out Bibles would seem to be low on the list. But hey, it's a free country, and our Constitution guarantees them the right to protest for or against whatever they want.

However, that same First Amendment also guarantees freedom of religion, and anti-Christians clearly crossed a line with an official government condemnation. From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Earlier this week, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution condemning the "act of provocation" by what it termed an "anti-gay," "anti-choice" organization that aimed to "negatively influence the politics of America's most tolerant and progressive city."

The full text of the resolution does not seem to be readily available, but here's what's on the San Francisco city website:
060371 [Condemning upcoming rally to be held by anti-abortion groups in front of City Hall on Friday, March 24, 2006] Supervisors Ammiano, Ma, Maxwell, Daly, Peskin, Mirkarimi
Resolution condemning upcoming rally to be held by anti-abortion groups in front of City Hall on Friday, March 24, 2006.

ADOPTED by the following vote:
Ayes: 11 - Alioto-Pier, Ammiano, Daly, Dufty, Elsbernd, Ma, Maxwell, McGoldrick, Mirkarimi, Peskin, Sandoval

Back up, Jack. What business, what RIGHT does any government body have to be making official condemnations of religious rallies? "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." That of course applies to all levels of US government as well.

Where's the ACLU? They're busy defending the rights of pedophiles of course. That legislation is utterly unconstitutional, and a violation of Christian rights.

He did miss the best part of that article though (from the Sf Gate of all places):
That's bad news to Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, who told counterprotesters at City Hall on Friday that while such fundamentalists may be small in number, "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco."
That leaves nothing to the imagination of how San Francisco's leaders feel about "freedom of expression" where it disagrees with their views.

Yet more reason to be afraid of the new Democrat ultra liberal anti Christian hate machine known as "The new majority". Just think: Soon you too can be called a bigot and told you can't voice your opinions in public if you're not an avid support of the homosexual life style. Hell, maybe some day they'll have enough of a majority to label your vote hate speech.

Hope you guys sleep well tonight. I'll be in the back digging my bomb shelter.

An open letter to Depeche' Mode (esp Martin Gore)
One Angry Christian

I've been a fan of Depeche' Mode's for years. In fact, I've been a fan for well over a decade. I own several of your albums, and I've spent more time on the dance floor getting my groove on to your tunes than I care to admit. In short, I really enjoy your music.

I've been listening to your new album, and I've noticed there's a transition in the music. Maybe I missed it in previous albums, but I swear your music was never this negative towards people of a specific religion. I'm sure you know which song I'm talking about. Yes. It's "John the Revelator".

I really enjoy the beats in this tune, and even the music. It occurs to me however, that you've attacked my religion and it's "book of lies" as you call it. I won't riot in the streets, or come to your house and threaten you, or carry out any act of violence. Instead, much like most Christians, I'll write you a letter. It's how those of us who respect the teachings of the Bible (even if we don't continuously follow them perfectly) handle our disagreements.

I'm not going to threaten to boycott you - I'd simply be punishing myself by depriving myself of your music. I'm not going to threaten to harass DJs who spin your music - that'd be pointless, stupid, and frankly imposing my own feelings upon others at the club who also enjoy your music. What I am going to do is ask you a few questions:

"So we're different colours
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I never even met you
So what could I have done

I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand"

I've done nothing to you. I'd appreciate it if you'd leave my religion alone so I can enjoy your music. You want to make fun of televangelists? I really couldn't care less. You want to attack politicians? I don't really care. You attack the religion my entire family practices in general? I care. What happened to live and let live?

If I've missed the point here feel free to correct me, but please don't make any lame excuses about "why" you would go after 80% of the U.S. populace's proclaimed religion. I'd remind you that a large portion of those people who practice this religion, or at least respect it, buy your albums and enjoy your music. So at least in part, those you seem to be attacking are open minded enough to listen to you.

This is my one appeal to you in a peaceable manner, and then I'll drop it regardless of your reaction or lack thereof. It's not really about "putting a stop" to anything. It's your music, and I respect that.

Though, as a fan (and one who comes from a very Christian family who has defended you to the more fundamentalist movement) I simply want to appeal to your reason, and hope that you care about the large number of your fans who don't care for religious attacks, and/or those who consider themselves Christians.

I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thanks.

John Kerry's biggest fan asks for an autograph
One Angry Christian

The headline for this article that I wanted was just way too damned long. How do you say "Islamofascist executioner of homosexuals and rebelious teenaged girls has fan boy moment and asks John Kerry for an autograph" without taking up five lines? I guess this is his idea of supporting the troops.

The Headlines ... With a twist
One Angry Christian

Here are a few headlines ... One Angry Christian style:

Sean Hannity of Fox news defies the Clintonian god head and airs treasonous clips previously censored by tolerant Democrats.
Sean Hannity dares defy the Omnipotent Clintonian god head's efforts to censor out oppositional bits of a made for TV movie. Democrats decry film as "inaccurate" stating that they would support freedom of speech as long as the speech supported them in every way.
HamNation of Townhall.com spews anti environment propaganda.
Mary Katharine Ham attacks environmentalists who are trying to protect the environment from the poor and destitute's efforts to destroy Mother Nature. Protestors defend their pro environmental stances putting "earth first" by supporting the living conditions that help control and contain the human populace ... so long as it's not in their neighborhood.
Peace loving people (aka: everyone but the conservatives) gathered for protests this weekend to support the genocide of the Kurds.
While Bush was busy building his oil empire the peace movement was busy helping Iran build its nuclear empire in order to support a more "earth friendly" US policy (IE: Earth - humans = earth friendly), and the genocide of at the very least... the Kurdish people.
Democratic Majority Flexes its muscles for the first time: Supports Illegals' rights to American jobs.
Today the Democratic leadership kept its campaign promise to its voter base to keep them in jobs this week. Next week we believe they'll be blocking the Republican charge to keep their base from voting by implementing a policy to verify citizenship, registration, whether or not they've voted in that election already, and whether or not the voters residence is six feet under a tomb stone. Democrats are confident that the Republican effort to discriminate against "undocumented workers", quadruple voters, and dead people will be defeated.
Sadr to his "resistance" leaders: Iran is to Iraq as Cambodia was to Vietnam
Muqtada Al Sadr (or "Mookie" as we lovingly refer to the pro environmental {ie: anti human life} Iraqi resistance leader and all around good guy) has once more out witted the evil capitalist oil stealing world domination plotting oppressors of the environment by hiding his most pro environment leaders (ie: those guys with the highest head count) in Iran, and feigning weakness. He was over heard today refering to "Iran" as "Iranbodia". Peace protestors erupted in celebration as the Kurds moved one step closer to extinction.
And Finally:

Evil conservative bushitler puppet and all around religious sympathizer who'll soon be wearing a pretty star passes out from shock.
The conservative blogger known as "One Angry Christian" passed out from shock today as he read the blog of one "Kirsten Powers" of Powers Po!nt fame. One can only hope that he's hit his head and will soon be found going to that imaginary delusion he calls God.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Be safe.

Yet more Leftist Info-Fascism
One Angry Christian

Normally I reserve my "info-fascism" posts for stories that I find where liberals are either physically attacking someone they disagree with or manipulating a public source of information in order to remove or stifle data that contradicts their presupposed arguments. This sort of malicious purposeful removal of information is nothing short of propagating their own propaganda and silencing in a fascist deceitful manner those they disagree with.

They not only consistently practice this sort of thing, but they're good at it. It's hard not be when the vast majority of the major media outlets are on your side.

Today I'm going to step away from that general format. Today's example of typical leftist info-fascism is a great example of how they're infiltrating our institutions and then using their numbers and so-called authority driving out anyone who disagrees with them using extremist attacks such as comparing anyone who dissents to the Nazi party or groups radical enough to deny the holocaust.

This has become rather common in the Global Warming debate as well as religious discussion where fundamentalist Atheists attack most commonly even liberal Christians as hate mongering bigoted lying hypocritical baby eaters that couldn't think for themselves just because ... they believe in God.

This is nothing short of one more step towards feeding us to the lions, and prosecuting those scientists who dissent from the global warming hysteria. Right now the law prohibits such things, but then the laws are made up of those who are either elected (the democrats would be the first to jail people for their opinions. See "hate crimes" legislation and its far reaching implications as well as many comments made about the "Nuremberg style trials" for "Global warming deniers"), or have the money to sue until the Judges reinterpret the laws to suit their agenda. It's not a stretch to think the ACLU would probably sue to protect public executions of Christians as freedom of expression much as they protect the members of NAMBLA, and yet stay strangely silent where the rights of those who dissent against this and other similar forms of madness are concerned.

Am I exaggerating? Probably a bit, but the longer this goes on the less extreme it seems. Click the image to see yet another step in the direction of my so-called hysteria over nothing.

Just keep in mind that this is the left is the group that used the ideology of "diverse open debate" to put themselves in the mainstream. That idea has apparently out lived its usefulness, and they're now yanking it to solidify their hold on every major institution they can get their hands on.

Don't you just love the "tolerance" of the left?

The Horrible state of the Economy (Part 2)
One Angry Christian

Evan is, as usual, reading my mind:

I suspect the economic gloom and doom in the press will continue…at least until the next time a Democrat occupies the White House, when the same economic situation that prevails today will suddenly be reported as positive news.

We're both wondering why no one is reporting the "Evaporation of the Federal Deficit". The press continues to bash this President over deficit spending that apparently doesn't exist while crediting Clinton with a national surplus that was gained under much less straining circumstances.

Where's the fair reporting? Why isn't anyone giving the Feds credit for a surplus during a time of war? I am utterly convinced that the press is nothing but a tool for the socialist "democrat" movement.

Moving From Ideas to Solutions

These two meetings represent a tremendous opportunity to put
forward bold solutions based on the bold colors Reagan gave us.

We need to move from the right principles to the right policies.
And we don't just need good ideas, we need solutions that work.

After all, a solution is a much higher standard than an idea.
It's pretty easy to have a good idea. But it takes a tremendous
amount of work to take that idea and make it a solution.

So what are my bold solutions based on bold colors? I thought
you'd never ask. The following are just a few.

Bold Solutions for Immigration, Citizenship and Accurate Honest

Border control for national security with sufficient intensity
and accuracy to ensure that no terrorist and no drug dealer can
cross the border.

Make English the language of government while respecting the
language background of all Americans and encouraging younger
Americans to learn foreign languages.

Make passing a test on American history in English and giving up
the right to vote in any other country key requirements of U.S.

Since becoming a citizen requires knowing English, have all
election ballots in English.

To insure that only legal citizens vote, require every voter to
have a photo ID card.

Cut off all federal aid to any city or county that declares
itself a "sanctuary" and refuses to enforce legal immigration

Enforce the laws requiring employers to know that their
employees are legal.

Outsource to Visa, Mastercard or American Express (or a
consortium of the three) to have an accurate, real-time
computerized system for identifying those participating in a
worker visa program and for instantly notifying any employer
that the person they are about to hire is illegal.

Create a systematic worker visa program with a biometric card
run by the computer card companies to avoid fraud, a background
check to eliminate any criminals and a signed contract to obey
the law and pay taxes or else be removed from the U.S. within 48
hours for failure to comply.

Bold Solutions for Energy to Help National Security, the Economy
and the Environment

Create a series of incentives and prizes to develop a hydrogen
economy and return the Middle Eastern oil supply to being a
petrochemical feedstock. A hydrogen economy would be better for
America and our allies. A hydrogen economy would be better for
the environment (no carbon loading of the atmosphere). A
hydrogen economy would be better for the American economy
because it would keep at home all the cash we are currently
sending to Venezuela and the Middle East.

While working to develop a hydrogen economy, there should also
be an interim strategy to include incentives for conservation
and for renewable fuels, including wind, solar and biofuels. It
is better to send the money to American farmers than to send it
to foreign dictators.

Create a $1-billion prize for the first affordable car to get
500 miles per gallon of gasoline and be manufacturable at a
price of $30,000 or less per car with reliability and
performance comparable to a gasoline powered car. This car would
probably combine an e-85 ethanol fuel with a hybrid motor using
electricity (and allowing a plug-in to absorb the 40% of
electricity production currently unused at night) with a
composite construction modeled off the Boeing Dreamliners very
light and very strong (much stronger than steel) composite.

A second $2-billion prize should be offered for a car getting
1,000 miles to the gallon of gasoline.

Bold Solutions for the Cost of Higher Education

As higher education costs soar out of sight, liberals focus on
subsidizing student loans and larger Pell grants but no one asks
why costs keep rising so rapidly:

Why are textbooks so expensive when printing costs are dropping
and specialized publishing on demand is very cheap? There should
be a project to produce textbooks at market costs not monopoly

How much have higher education bureaucracies expanded since 1960
and how much has that added to the unnecessary increase in the
cost of education? A new model of flattening the hierarchy and
shrinking the bureaucracy should be aimed at lowering the cost
of higher education dramatically.

How much can be saved by encouraging students to learn as
rapidly as possible and graduate as quickly as possible? How
much do current curriculums both in K-12 and in higher education
actually slow students down, waste their time and waste taxpayer

Bold Solutions for Permanent Space-based Research and

NASA has become a slow and paper-dominated bureaucracy. It is
proposing to spend billions very slowly and very
bureaucratically. It will both waste the taxpayers' money and
actually slow the speed of getting into space. A bold
alternative solution would be to:

Focus the NASA bureaucracy on science projects and inexpensive
unmanned space exploration.

Set aside the money currently allocated for manned space
exploration for getting to the moon and Mars and turn it into
prizes with bigger rewards for earlier achievements and smaller
prizes for later achievements. Entrepreneurial startups and bold
adventurers will get into space much faster and more excitingly
than a government bureaucracy.

Change the FAA and NASA rules to make it easy for entrepreneurs
and explorers to get into space at a much higher risk than we
would tolerate for government programs. Establish an equivalency
with mountain climbing as an acceptable risk informed adults
could take in space launches.
Imagine that! Real ideas instead of just downing his opposition. What a concept. There are more ideas in one paragraph of this letter than I've seen out of the entire far left in the last four years.

Daily Run down
One Angry Christian

The news in a flash:

The reign of terror started today on Capitol Hill as Nancy "Marches with pedophiles" Pelosi took the gavel as House Majority Leader. Meanwhile outside, those powerful Democrats who had so recently unseated the Republican party from their majority status were introduced to the real "reign of terror" otherwise known as the Democratic Base (aka: the "peace movement"). As Democratic leaders fled the fiery breath of Cindy "even with tens of thousands of dollars I can't get my beloved son a head stone" Sheehan she took a moment to remind all of us how much the Socialist movement owns the Democratic party.

Those wacky "Republicans are dumb and can't spell" reporters were at it again using their high priced educations to produce a different take on the spelling of "feud". At least this time they didn't confuse an American Senator with a world renown terrorist. I mean hey, COME ON! It's not like they knew. You'd think they'd done a FULL STORY on his name before! You know the media. They're oh so reliable. Nope ... no bias here.

On another note Israel has decided that they're tired of fighting off the millions of racist Islamofascists, so they're moving to the moon. Unfortunately for them, Iran also has extraterrestrial ambitions, and appears to be attempting to take Jihad where no man has gone before. One blogger is optimistic however, and sees a two state solution. He suggested that "many Palestinians don’t seem to be at all put off by explosive decompression", but gives a non explosive alternative to the lunar Palestinian state theory for the sake of being humane. I believe though that it is their right to fulfill their religious desires for self explosive decompression so long as they keep it within the bounds of those who believe likewise about the whole "exploding" thing.

And finally, while the Lizards at LGF are celebrating the uplifting of one American Hero, and the enjoyable trample of one international ... idiot and villain we all have something else to celebrate: the possible death of another fanatical religious nut trying to push his beliefs on others via nuclear weapons and suicide bombers. No. I'm not talking about some James Bond fictitious character. I'm talking about Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Democrats hope to establish alternative energy fund

Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives say they’ll set up a special fund to promote renewable energy and fuel conservation once they become the majority party in 2007.

And, according to The Associated Press, they plan to pay for it with revenues from the oil industry.

Details haven’t been worked out yet, but The AP reports that the money from big oil could come from increased royalties or cutbacks in the tax breaks the industry receives.

Emphasis mine.

Here we go again with that stupid "THE BIG EVIL OIL COMPANIES MUST BE STOPPED" mentality. If this actually happens, and they get all of the approval for the funding they want I make a prediction here. First off, they won't get all of the tax revenue they want. The more you tax an industry the less you make. That's been shown ... over and over. Apparently, democrats have a very short term memory, or they missed out on economic history completely. Secondly, I predict that we the lower middle class will take the brunt of the abuse. People like myself who make over 30k a year and well under 50 will be taxed straight into the poor house. Besides being taxed to death I predict that in order to compensate for the taxes oil companies, refineries, and gas stations will raise their prices. We'll see extremely high prices driven by taxes.

Sounds like a wonderful idea. Save the planet by screwing the middle class.

Sat Nav for Mexicans illegally entering US

By Justin Stares in Monterrey, Sunday Telegraph
Last Updated: 11:45pm GMT 30/12/2006

Illegal immigrants planning to cross the desert and enter the US on foot are to be given hand-held satellite devices by the Mexican authorities to ensure they arrive safely.

Those who get lost or fall sick during the dangerous four-day crossing will be able to activate the device, to alert frontier police on both sides of the border.

The satellite tracking service will require would-be illegals to register their intentions before setting off — a paradoxical move, given that secrecy is necessary for success — but Mexican authorities are predicting that about 200,000 devices will be handed out when the project is launched formally in the coming year.

"Our intention is to save lives," said Jaime Obregon, the co-ordinator for the state commission for migrants in Puebla, the Mexican state which is behind the project. "There are lots of people looking to cross and we are working with the US authorities to make sure they do not die on the way."

I have a better idea. Why don't we just start mailing our paychecks directly to Mexico. That's where they're going anyway with the way the illegals are raping our welfare system. Yes. I used the word rape. That is exactly what's happening, and our politicians are complicit in this crime.

I'm tired of sending my money to Mexico so their corrupt government can continue reeping drug funds while helping ship heroine to our kids. We need the military on the border ... now. Shoot enough of them and they'll quit coming. Warnings, border patrols, and "inter-governmental cooperation" obviously isn't working, so what's left? They're not giving us any option but to defend ourselves with deadly force.

Googling for the Angry Christian
One Angry Christian

So I have to kind of step back for a second and take a deep breath.

Today I decided to see where my blog shows up when I google "one angry christian". Of course, my blog popped up right about the top. I was kind of excited. Yay for me! I'm on the google engines, right? Well, I found some other stuff I didn't expect, and it was ... rather flattering and VERY encouraging.

I've always considered myself a small time blogger who might be read by one or two people. Realistically I figured I might have a dozen readers total. I never realized that there are people reading my blog that I am completely unaware of like Okie on the Lam, Ed Driscoll, Fuzzy Craig, Ron Hebron, and most noteably Hugh Hewitt the conservative radio talk show host, and blogger.

How do I know all of this? Google baby. It's your friend. When I googled my blog I found that several people apparently really liked my "man of the year post". The post has been linked, posted on some blogger communities, and reposted by everyone I previously mentioned. To be fair these guys probably had someone pass them a link the story. As much as I'd love to believe Hugh reads my blog regularly that's just not likely. Though I can suspend reality for a minute and indulge myself. >>suspends reality<< There. Now I feel better. Heh.

In the end it means very little except that I'm getting a lot more attention than I thought. I really didn't think out side of those who subscribe to my myspace, live journal, or the ... couple of readers who post on my blogspot that anyone really paid attention. Apparently, someone reads my blog, and to all of you someones out there ... thank you. Some times I wonder why I keep posting on here when most of my readers have already read the stories I post before I post them.

Just occasionally it's nice to see that you're making an impact of some sort. Thank you from the very bottom to the very top of my heart.
